IGNORANCE IS VERY COSTLY!

I once heard of a story years back about a man who bought a ticket for a cruise. He had emptied his account to get the ticket. He decided to pack along with him crackers and peanut butter for the three days since there was nothing left in his account. He boarded the cruise ship and off they sailed. Each day he ate his packed snacks for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the third day, a fellow traveler  asked him why he never joined them during meal times and he confessed he didn't have any money to buy food but had to eat the little he packed. The fellow was so surprised and told him the ticket he purchased also took care of the meals. He was ignorant of this fact and thus did not maximize all his benefits.

It should be the earnest desire of every Christians to know God better. We want to command mighty things and have the best of life but not many of us wants to spend time in gaining a deep understanding and knowledge of who this God we claim to serve is. If only we could do this always-"Study this book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it". Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you". We do not always have time to spend to read our bibles and listen to messages. This is more than a Sunday morning and evening worship service but a private life separated to God for more of Him. We are too busy with life and its issues.

Paul who wrote most of the new testament still craved to know God better.  The scripture says in Philippians 3:10 "That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made comformable unto his death".  There is great benefit in acquiring knowledge.

When we have a deeper understanding of who God is, we will not need to press the panic button
everytime we are faced with the issues of life.  You can not take time seeking God, going deeper in Him and not be changed. Knowledge commands power to face all we go through. Those that know their God will be strong and DO EXPLOITS! Time to play church and live a powerless life is over. Get to know God more—deliberately set out time to know Him better. How much of God do we know? How much of His power do we possess? No mad dog plays around the Lion’s territory; acquire knowledge, acquire power!

Same applies to our daily lives. People say they want to be very comfortable financially, want to rise to the top of their careers and be the best but I ask, how trained are you in your area of expertise? A working knowledge of the subject matter gives you a competitive advantage over your peers. Get training, read, start that program, write that certification exams and by all means, upgrade yourself. Be competitive in what you do. A wise man once said "the only mountain you face in life is a product of your ignorance in that area".

The scripture records Belzalel was a man of great skills. Exodus 31 records: "he had wisdom, filled with great understanding, with knowledge and all kinds of skills". He would not have been chosen by the Lord to help Moses if he had no expert knowledge of his skill and I'm sure he was not the only craftsman in their time. One of the things that distinguished him was his expertise in his field.
You want to be a leader at work, school etc, seek knowledge, get training and upgrade your skills. Read books and be the best in your field. Daniel in the bible said he understood by books. How many books do you read in a month?

Have you felt so uncomfortable and just ignorant in a subject matter that you had to keep nodding your head so people don't see or know how ignorant you are concerning the subject mater? Did that situation prompt you to seek knowledge or just waved it off? The same goes for our attitude to the things of God. When confronted with uncomfortable situations, seek knowledge on that matter; get educated.
"The wise prevail through great power, and those who have knowledge muster their strength."
